We thank you Ms. Duncan

In our first, and as it turns out, only year at Ames Elementary we fell in love with the school. The sense of community, the friends that Meghan and Jaymie (mom) and Bill (dad) made and the way the school as a whole welcomed Meghan were all part of our feelings, but the real reason we fell in love with the school has little to do with the building and everything to with the people who work inside of its walls.
From the moment we met Principal Klinedinst at the open house last spring we had good feelings about the school. Her passion for education, her obvious talents as a school leader and her incredible personality gave us comfort that we would be sending our girls to the right school.
And then we meet Miss Duncan and our feelings were only reinforced.
The fears and trepidations that we felt in sending our oldest daughter into the care or someone else were put to ease by the professional and warm manner in which she welcomed 18 or so kindergarteners to her class room. Our confidence that our daughter would be getting an incredible start to her academic careers soared when we were able to meet with Miss Duncan and our buckets filled a little more every day when we witnessed first-hand the impact she had on our daughter.
From the life lessons like filling someone’s bucket by doing nice things for them, to learning to read, Miss Duncan will always be remembered as the teacher that got it all started for Meghan.
As a sign of our appreciation we want to let all of the parents and students of Miss Duncan’s 2008-2009 class have an opportunity to tell her, and the world how we felt about her with this blog. It is something that she can take with her, no matter where her career takes her, and something that she can share with others.
So please, take the time to share with Miss Duncan, and others, your feelings about this fantastic teacher that our children and our small community were lucky enough to have, if just for one year.
